CYPETHERM EPlus

New options in the constant performance equipment: power and programming

An option has been added to define the heating and/or cooling power of "Constant Performance Equipment" type terminal units. If the power is not specified, the equipment will overcome the thermal load of the area where it is located, according to the activation sequence of the terminal units defined in the area.

Furthermore, the equipment operation schedule can be defined. Users can choose the equipment that is always available to overcome the load, as until now, or establish an operating schedule.

Compatibility improvements of air conditioning systems

As of the 2020.a version, more than one condensation system can be defined for reversible heat pumps in the project. Furthermore, the terminal unit of the "Water-air heat pump" can be combined with other terminal units in the same thermal zone, except with air conditioning terminal units connected to air conditioners.

Similarly, it is possible to combine "Constant performance equipment" type terminal units with other terminal units in the same thermal zone, except with air conditioning terminal units connected to air conditioners.

Saunier Duval aerothermal systems

The "Genia Air" by Saunier Duval aerothermal systems catalogue has been incorporated. The Saunier Duval logo appears in the Aerothermal-type water air-conditioning systems. In the panel that opens when the logo is clicked on, users can choose between the different "Genia Air compacta" models of the range and add the "Genia Set” hydaulic module.

As occurs with other aerothermal systems, users can choose whether the system will be used only for heating or also for cooling. Users must also specify the working temperature conditions of the installation and its operating mode during the year.

The “Genia Air compacta” aerothermal equipment by Saunier Duval have also been incorporated into the "DHW Systems" panel.

Vaillant aerothermal systems

The Vaillant "aroTHERM" aerothermal systems catalogue has been incorporated. The Vaillant logo appears in the Aerothermal-type water air-conditioning systems. In the panel that opens when the logo is clicked on, users can choose between the different "aroTHERM" compact equipment models and add the "uniTOWER” hydaulic module.

As occurs with other aerothermal systems, users can choose whether the system will be used only for heating or also for cooling. Users must also specify the working temperature conditions of the installation and its operating mode during the year.

The Vaillant "aroTHERM" compact aerothermal equipment have also been incorporated into the "DHW Systems" panel.

Import aerothermal equipment defined in Open BIM DAIKIN

As of the 2019.h version, CYPETHERM programs with the EnergyPlusTM analysis engine (CYPETHERM EPlus and CYPETHERM RECS Plus), can import aerothermal equipment from DAIKIN’s monobloc, bibloc and HT series that have been defined in the BIM project using Open BIM DAIKIN.

Margin of setpoint temperatures

Users can define the temperature margin to calculate the out of setpoint hours. This can be done in the "Design options" panel (Analysis tab > Design options button or Analysis button).

In the simulation, the hours in which the air temperature of the building spaces lies outside the heating or cooling setpoint temperature range are counted as hours out of setpoint, with a margin higher than the indicated values. In previous versions, this margin was fixed and with a value of 0.2 ºC.

Increased compatibility of the air conditioning systems defined in the building

As of the 2019.h version of CYPETHERM programs with the EnergyPlusTManalysis engine (CYPETHERM EPlus and CYPETHERM RECS Plus), users can define more than one water-cooled water chiller system in the same building. It is also possible to define several water air conditioning systems in the building if, additionally, water-cooled systems have been defined for the chiller.

Furthermore, as of the 2019.h version, users can define any number of production equipment within the water air conditioning and condensation systems. In previous versions, there was a maximum limit of 10 units.

Update of the EnergyPlus analysis engine to version 9.1

The 2019.h version of CYPETHERM programs with the EnergyPlusTM analysis engine (CYPETHERM EPlus and CYPETHERM RECS Plus) uses the new 9.1 version of the engine, published on 27 March 2019.

New CYPETHERM Eplus project examples

Two new example projects have been added:

  • Restaurant
    It consists of an isolated place for restaurant use whose room is air-conditioned using a compact roof unit that distributes the air through ducts.
  • Residential Row Houses
    Represents an urbanisation of residential homes, with individual heating, air conditioning and solar DHW installations.

Open BIM workflow

Thermal envelope of the building in GLTF standard format

As of the 2019.g version, "CYPETHERM EPlus", "CYPETHERM HE Plus" and "CYPETHERM RECS Plus" export two independent GLTF files (attached to the IFC) with the thermal information of the building envelope to the BIM project located on the BIMserver.center platform. Each GLTF file allows users to view the data in a different way in any viewer that interprets the GLTF standard format (AUTODESK Viewer, glTF Viewer, BIMserver.center web viewer...):

  • Thermal model, by element
    The complete construction solutions used in the building are displayed, as well as their properties (reference, thickness and thermal resistance).
  • Thermal model, by layers
    The individual layers that make up each construction solution together with their properties (reference, thickness and thermal resistance) are displayed.

Export results to the Open BIM project

As of the 2019.g version, CYPETHERM programs with the EnergyPlus™ analysis engine (CYPETHERM EPlus, CYPETHERM HE Plus and CYPETHERM RECS Plus) can export the results reports they generate to the Open BIM project to which they are linked.

To do so, the Export button has been added in the "Results" tab. As with other programs included in the Open BIM workflow, this export generates a file with IFC format that is included in the BIM project, located on the BIMserver.center platform (other programs that also generate graphic documentation will include other "IFC" " in the project). The IFC files of CYPETHERM with the EnergyPlus™ analysis engine contains the PDF files corresponding to the results lists. These PDF files will be accessible from the BIMserver.center platform by any member of the BIM project team that has the appropriate role.

Import VRF equipment from Open BIM FUJITSU

As of the 2019.g version, CYPETHERM programs with the EnergyPlus™ engine (CYPETHERM EPlus, CYPETHERM HE Plus and CYPETHERM RECS Plus) can import the Fujitsu "VRF Airstage" equipment that have been defined in the Open BIM project using Open BIM FUJITSU.

Import data from Open BIM TOSHIBA

As of the 2019.g version, CYPETHERM programs with EnergyPlus™ engine (CYPETHERM EPlus, CYPETHERM HE Plus and CYPETHERM RECS Plus) import new data from the air conditioning systems defined in Open BIM TOSHIBA. Specifically, they import pipe lengths and the installation dimensions of the 1x1 split equipment with distribution by ducts, and the outlet water temperatures defined in the aerothermal equipment.

Multiple editing of project elements

A new tool has been implemented that allows users to edit the elements of the same type that have been defined in the project. It is a multiple editing tool and works with an assistant that starts by pressing the “Multiple edit” button located in the upper toolbar. The "Multiple precinct editing" button that appeared in previous versions has been integrated in this new tool.

The multiple editing assistant allows users to modify the properties of the zones, spaces, terminal units and of certain elements defined in the library, using the buttons at the top of the window. The assistant will only modify the properties chosen by users of the elements selected in the assistant itself (Elements that have been introduced-Zones, Spaces, and Terminal Units-, or Library elements- Spaces, Doors, Glazed openings, and Skylights).

The multiple editing assistant also allows users to delete zones and terminal units.

Import Daikin Open BIM equipment

CYPETHERM programs with the EnergyPlusTM analysis engine, CYPETHERM EPlus and CYPETHERM RECS Plus, can import the equipment and pipes introduced in "Open BIM DAIKIN" (implemented in this version) if they are connected to a BIM project located on the BIMserver.center platform that contains this information.
