DTERBIM
The DTERBIM project (Driving Transformation on Energy-efficient and Circular Renovation through BIM), part of Horizon Europe and funded by the European Union, aims to speed up the digital transformation of the construction industry through an innovative methodology for BIM-based collaborative design and project management. The project seeks to improve the efficiency of construction and renovation processes by optimising resource management, costs, timelines and circularity throughout the entire building life cycle.
DTERBIM is developing an integrated ecosystem that combines BIM, Digital Twins, AI-based services and openBIM technologies within a common framework that promotes collaboration, interoperability and data exchange amongst the various stakeholders in the sector. The project introduces the DTERBIM Toolkit, a set of digital tools and services designed to support decision-making during the design, construction, operation, maintenance, deconstruction and reuse phases of buildings.
The project will be validated through two virtual pilot schemes and demonstrated in three real-world refurbishment case studies: a historic residential building in Valladolid (Spain), a university building in Warsaw (Poland) and a nursery and primary school building in Athens (Greece). These demonstrations will enable the proposed methodology to be evaluated and showcase its ability to improve sustainability, circularity and resource efficiency in renovation projects.
CYPE contributes to DTERBIM by developing openBIM-based workflows, interoperability frameworks, digital collaboration services and Common Data Environment (CDE) technologies. It is also involved in the integration of BIM, Digital Twins and circular refurbishment processes within the DTERBIM ecosystem, helping to create a more open, interoperable and efficient digital environment for managing and renovating the building stock.
