CYPE has a wide range of tools specialised in structures, electricity, water and energy efficiency, adapted to BIM technology

CYPE is considered as one of the companies in the sector that has most invested in and committed itself to the implementation of BIM technology (Building Information Modeling) in the construction sector worldwide, according to the report “Global Building Information Modeling (BIM) Market” published by the international consultancy firm Credence Research from the United States.

The report, made available last July, highlights the current importance of this technology and predicts that this market will grow by more than double digits until 2022. In particular, the report prepared by Credence Research estimates that the international market for BIM technology will be worth approximately 11,000 million dollars in 2022, compared to 4,000 million dollars in 2006. Open BIM technology allows its users to reduce the loss of time and resources in the design, data generation and management process and construction of the building, as well as throughout its entire life cycle. Furthermore, this technology minimises errors in a construction project by anticipating them and being able to intervene before they happen.

Despite the importance that this technology will have in the future, the number of software development companies that are implementing this technology is still limited. According to the study, “the global BIM market is consolidating quite satisfactorily with a few suppliers offering specific modules”, highlighting the company CYPE, the only Spanish company mentioned in the report, as one of them. On this subject, CYPE’s Director of Corporate Development, Benjamín González, recalls that CYPE was one of the pioneers in the sector in incorporating this technology when in 2013, “we implemented in our software the exportation of work created with different software tools to the IFC4 format (Industry Foundation Classes), becoming one of the first companies in the sector whose software allows exports in this format”.

Currently, CYPE has a wide range of fully operational computer programs that permit users to work with Open BIM technology, allowing a collaborative, multidisciplinary and multi-user workflow that facilitates the development of projects in an open, coordinated and simultaneous way between the different technicians and agents involved on the BIMserver.center platform. Among the programs IFC Builder, CYPECAD, CYPELEC REBT, CYPESOUND, CYPEFIRE and CYPETHERM stand out, among others.

Geographical regions with the most BIM implementation

By geographical region, the study indicates that Europe is the area that is most committed to BIM technology. Among the reasons outlined in the report, the commitment to BIM of the different EU governments when carrying out projects that depend on the public administration is highlighted. Behind Europe is the US, whose market has increased by 45% in the last 10 years. Meanwhile Asia and the Pacific, with countries such as China, India and Japan leading the way, is the third geographical area in terms of BIM implementation in the construction sector.
