CYPE and CSTB, Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment, combine their expertise to develop BIM software for the construction industry

DESTACADO:

Taking advantage of the meeting at the international exhibition BIMWORLD 2016 held in Paris, both entities closed an agreement for the co-development of a program with BIM technology applied to the acoustic and energy study of buildings

In the field of acoustics, the aim is to create a new program for the study of the acoustic comfort of buildings, consisting of the analysis engine and the acoustic performance database of CSTB's AcouBAT, which, together with a new interface designed by CYPE, will be included in the Open BIM workflow.

Hervé Charrue, Deputy CEO in charge of Research and Development at CSTB, and Vicente Castell Herrera, CEO at CYPE, at BIMWORLD 2016

On the other hand, in the field of the energy efficiency of buildings, this collaboration will allow users to obtain a tool that includes the CSTB's building energy simulation analysis engine. This tool will be integrated into CYPE's CYPETHERM Suite, which won an award at the BATIMAT 2015 Innovation Contest, notably for its ability to work in real-time and its synchronisation in Open BIM.

These tools will be solved using the openBIM standards of buildingSMART International, including the IFC4 format (ISO 16739:2013). This cooperation results from the participation of both companies in the European HOLISTEEC project, whose main objective is to design, develop and validate a collaborative software platform in the cloud for the technical design of buildings based on the BIM concept.

Architects, builders, studios, specialists, manufacturers, etc., can all benefit from the best analysis engines and Open BIM technology. This way their professional capacity will be maximised and they will be able to offer their clients improvements in quality and productivity, benefits inherent to the use of a BIM model.

For the CSTB, this agreement is the first strategic step to make efficient BIM software available for acoustic and energy study.

This agreement consolidates CYPE's position as a leader in technical software and provides its users in France and abroad with tools that use BIM technology to implement a collaborative, multidisciplinary and multi-user workflow.

About the CSTB

The CSTB is a public organisation that aims to ensure the quality and safety of buildings and to support innovation in the industry. It does this through four key activities: research and expertise, validation, certification and dissemination of knowledge. By means of these activities, it assists professionals in promoting the quality and safety of buildings. As part of its research activity, the CSTB has been labelled as Institut Carnot since 2006.
