CYPE has, in the last few years, consolidated its presence in the main Portuguese-speaking countries of Africa (PALOP) – Angola, Mozambique and Cape Verde – due to the effort carried out by the company alongside Top Informática, the official CYPE distributer in Portugal, with their internationalisation plan. This market plays a strategic role in the enlargement project of the company and data obtained from the 2012 sales confirm the software has been well-accepted by the professionals of these three countries, all of which are territories that are experiencing an important growth in their construction sectors.
This way, the sales volume of CYPE, in this geographical area and between last year and the first semester of 2013, has already overcome that which was generated between 1999 and 2011, as indicated by the company, with an overall increase of 31%. “The evolution and growth of the company in these countries during the last two years has been very important and, if these sales continue, we estimate we shall have doubled the sales with respect to those of the 2012 period, by the end of the year”, explains CYPE’s Technical Director, Carlos Fernández.
One of the factors of the evolution of CYPE in the PALOP market is the effort the various governments are investing to improve the infrastructures and social development of their inhabitants. With regards to this, an investigation by ICEX revealed that Cape Verde is encouraging the construction of buildings, as it is currently faced with a deficit of close to 40,000 dwellings.
Mozambique is going through a growth period based on the diversification of its economy. In this sense, the Government of Mozambique foresees an increase of 8.49% of its economy in 2013, according to the State Economic and Social Budget Plan of 2013. For this, it is investing in initiatives that favour human and social development, where the construction of residential buildings and infrastructure plays an essential role.
Finally, Angola is diversifying its economy, which is based mainly on petrol and its derivatives, and is concentrating more on infrastructures and human capital, at the same time it is reducing the existing negotiation difficulties in Angola. CYPE is currently immersed in more than 100 countries and has driven a total of six pioneer investigation projects in the world in the last four years, all supported by public finance, which demonstrates its commitment to innovation, technology and RDI.
