The architecture, engineering and software company CYPE has organised and sponsored the celebration of the 1st Edition of the Open BIM Contest for Students, with the aim of stimulating creativity, innovation and recognising the work of university students and their lecturers in the use of the BIM work methodology.
The deadline for submission of projects is 30th June.
This international contest will use BIMserver.center technology – a cloud-based collaboration platform for architecture, engineering and construction projects where all professionals in the construction industry can interact and share information using BIM technology.
To participate, each lecturer must create a project or several projects in BIMserver.center Education to be completed by their students, who must also incorporate a report detailing the motivation for the project, the needs it covers and a brief justification of the adopted solutions for each discipline.
According to Benjamín González, Director of Corporate Development at CYPE, the Open BIM for Students Contest aims to help promote the use of the BIM work methodology in university degrees and to raise awareness of its importance among university students.
“In a global technical context in which BIM is gradually becoming a legal requirement for designing buildings and public works, this contest will support the need to promote the use of BIM tools, which students will need in their future careers in order to work in an increasingly digitalised industry”, highlights Benjamín González.
A panel made up of engineers and architects from CYPE will award prizes to the three best projects. CYPE will award a first prize of 2,000 euros to the members of the winning team, with the possibility of a paid internship at the company for one of the team’s students. There will also be a prize of 1,000 euros to share among the members of the second-place team, and there will be a third prize of 500 euros.
