Defining spaces for the calculation of thermal loads

Non-habitable spaces

The definition of non-habitable spaces involves setting the following parameters:

  • Space classification: Non-habitable
  • Loss reduction factor 'b'
Define the loss reduction factor ‘b’, which regulates heat transfer from habitable spaces to the outside via non-habitable spaces.
    • Calculated
    • Custom
      • Force the loss reduction factor 'b'
  • Airtightness level (if the "Loss reduction factor 'b'" is "Calculated")
The airtightness level is defined based on the number of air changes per hour in the room:
    • Completely airtight (0.1/h)
    • No ventilation openings (0.5/h)
    • Small ventilation openings (1/h)
    • Permanent ventilation openings (3/h)
    • Large or multiple ventilation openings (10/h)
    • Custom
      • Outdoor air exchange rate (h⁻¹)
Non-habitable space (project type: "Thermal loads") with the loss reduction factor 'b' calculated
Non-habitable space (project type: "Thermal loads") with a customised loss reduction factor 'b'

Habitable spaces

The definition of habitable spaces involves setting the following parameters:

  • Space classification: Habitable
  • Calculation conditions (Heated and cooled / Cooling only / Heating only)
  • Cooling
    • Design indoor temperature (or maximum comfortable indoor temperature, if the space is heated only)
    • Design relative humidity
  • Heating
