CYPE has started its participation in the Austrian research project called "BIMSavesEnergy: Planning methods based on BIM to guarantee energy efficiency in the construction process" in which it will contribute the development and implementation of BIM technology in an initiative that has the objective of creating a platform to verify and quantify the impact of the decisions made in terms of energy efficiency in a construction project during the planning and project management phases.
This research project is led by the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) and has the participation of the Austrian companies Clean Energy Solutions (CES) and Bauunternehmung GRANIT Gesellschaft, the Swiss ISIS Papyrus Europe AG and CYPE, who will have a budget of 562,000 euros to develop a digital platform that will unite in a single space utilities planning and management of everything related to energy efficiency in a construction project.
To do this, according to Benjamín González, Director of Corporate Development of CYPE, this project will create and establish planning methods based on Open BIM technology that will be integrated into the platform called Adaptive Case Management (ACM). These methods will be "developed specifically for the construction industry, implementing its vocabulary, its rules and models", as explained by the Director of Corporate Development of CYPE.
In this way, continues Benjamín González, the BIMSavesEnergy initiative will lead to the construction of technology already used in other sectors, such as insurance, where specific platforms already exist "that facilitate the integral planning of the companies that provide a stable infrastructure in an economic activity where the processes are too dynamic, variable and unstructured".
With this, the platform will digitally compile the study of energy efficiency throughout the life cycle of the project, from the analysis, modelling and simulation phase, to the execution of the construction process. "In terms of interoperability, BIMSavesEnergy will ensure that bidirectional communication between all the professionals participating in the project will not suffer information losses thanks to the IFC (Open BIM) objects with which the platform will work".
With the development of this platform, framed in the Austrian research project BIMSavesEnergy, construction professionals will have a tool to quickly and hierarchically verify the milestones related to energy efficiency (KPI), quantitatively assessing the influence of planning decisions and taking them into account in the management process.
Opening of the German speaking market
The participation of CYPE in this Austrian research project will also allow the Spanish company, a leader in the development of software for architecture, engineering and construction, to improve its international positioning, since it will facilitate access to the so-called DACH (German speaking) market hand in hand with the other prestigious partners that collaborate in this initiative. According to Benjamín González, "with our Open BIM workflow (IFC4) we can enter the market for thermal, acoustic, air conditioning and lighting analysis in Austria and Germany."
