Atlanta, Georgia, USA twilight rush hour.

CYPE will participate in the "2017 ASHRAE Building Performance Analysis Conference" in Atlanta (USA) from September 27 to 29. This event, one of the most important in the world in the field of building systems, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, refrigeration and sustainability, will bring together the latest advances in Refrigeration Systems and Alternative Refrigerants; Fundamentals and Applications; HVAC Systems and Equipment; Intelligent Building Management Systems, Remote Monitoring and Diagnosis; Indoor Environment: Health, Comfort, Productivity; Professional Skills Beyond Engineering; Renewable Energy Systems and Net Zero Energy.

This way, Bárbara Torregrosa, from the CYPE Development Department, who is the sponsor of this event, will offer on Wednesday, September 27 the conference titled "Reproducing Off-Rated Performance of Variable Refrigerant Flow Heat Pumps in EnergyPlus" in which she will explain how the EnergyPlus analysis engine implemented in CYPE can simulate the consumption of VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) air conditioning systems taking into account the combined effect of the different factors that affect final consumption, such as indoor and outdoor air conditions and the partial compressor load, amongst other variables. This way, the official data of manufacturers can be reproduced more precisely and take advantage of the existing software options.

Thanks to this work method, as will be seen in the presentation offered by Bárbara Torregrosa, we will conclude that the results of the simulation obtained with EnergyPlus reduce the percentage error in the consumption prediction, minimizing it by up to 8% compared to 22% offered by other work methods, which represents a difference of more than 4% of the annual energy consumption.
