Stålbyggnadsdagen, the Swedish event dedicated to steel construction, held its 57th edition on 7 November 2024 at the Gothenburg trade fair. This meeting brought together the main specialists in the AEC industry to explore the latest trends in sustainable steel construction and, as expected, CYPE was there to contribute its vision in this field.
We also had the opportunity to accompany many other experts and to immerse ourselves in an environment at the forefront of technology and sustainability. Stålbyggnadsdagen not only allowed us to discover the latest developments in the industry but also to contribute our knowledge by showcasing our CYPE solutions for the design and analysis of steel structures.
Our steps in the Scandinavian market
Our involvement in the Scandinavian market has intensified this year. In June, we attended the Nordic Steel Construction Conference 2024 in Luleå, a major steel production hub, at an event that brings together key players in the steel sector from the four Scandinavian countries. This meeting, which rotates between the Nordic countries, is a platform for exchanging knowledge and networking in the steel industry in Scandinavia.
We gave a presentation on "Adopting Open BIM technology for the analysis and detailing of connections in steel structures", in which we explained how we implemented advanced BIM solutions for the design and analysis of steel structures. Our participation included a stand where we were able to connect directly with industry professionals from the Nordic countries.
At both events, we highlighted our four programs that work together in this field: CYPE 3D, CYPE Connect, StruBIM Steel and Portal frame generator; highlighting our ability to offer comprehensive solutions in the design and analysis of steel structures.
CYPE at Stålbyggnadsdagen
During the event, we showcased the practical application of our tools in steel construction. We used the experience from our previous presentation in Luleå on Open BIM technology to illustrate the capabilities of our software for analysis and connections in steel structures.
These solutions are closely related to the topics covered in the Stålbyggnadsdagen presentations. For example, CYPE 3D addresses the need for linear and non-linear analyses and efficient design of steel structures discussed at the event. StruBIM Steel, with its detailed drawing capabilities, is related directly to the presentations on modern steelwork production.
CYPE Connect, which allows the design of steel, timber and composite connections, is aligned with the talks on hybrid steel and timber constructions, while Portal frame generator can be used to export geometry and loads to the CYPE 3D program.
Trends and new developments
The all-day event provided an opportunity to address various aspects, with steelwork taking centre stage. The day began with presentations on steel construction, the latest trends in the industry and their applications in current projects.
The design and analysis of steel structures and their connections were some of the most important topics. The presentations also dealt with composite steel and timber constructions.
In addition, around 200 engineering students attended Stålbyggnadsdagen, eager to learn more about the industry and how their future jobs really work. It was an educational space focused not only on professionals, but also on future professionals.
Finally, Stålbyggnadsdagen concluded with an award ceremony for the best thesis, and with the Silverbalken 2024, an award presented by the Swedish Steel Construction Institute for outstanding contributions to the development of steel construction.
As a result, CYPE's participation in these events underlines our commitment to innovation in steel construction. As the industry moves towards more sustainable practices, we will continue to provide tools that support professionals in creating efficient and responsible solutions.
