Update history

Foundation elements

The following modifications have been made to the availability of the applications from the CYPE Menu.

New:

  • CYPEHVAC Schematics

  • ELODIE by CYPE (Only in the CYPE Menu in French)

Deleted:

  • CYPELEC Core, CYPELEC REBT, CYPELEC NF and CYPELEC RETIE. They are joined together in a single program called CYPELEC.

  • CYPESOUND CTE, CYPESOUND NRA, CYPESOUND RRAE, CYPESOUND DRAPDE. They are integrated into CYPESOUND.

  • CYPEURBAN. Available for download and installation from the BIMserver.center platform.

  • IFC Uploader. New contributions can now be created directly from the project page on the BIMserver.center platform.

  • CYPEFIRE FDS Viewer. CYPEFIRE FDS can be used to view FDS simulations.

The "Updates" option has been implemented in the main CYPE Menu window. Thanks to this tool, multiple updates of installed applications can be carried out via the CYPE Menu.

When clicking on the “Updates” option, a window opens with a list of all installed applications. Select a set of them and, after clicking "Accept", the update process will start.

During this process, progress is displayed in the main CYPE Menu window indicating the current status of the update.

If an update is available for the CYPE Menu itself, it is shown below the list of applications to be updated. However, it is important to note that the update of the CYPE Menu is carried out on its own.

This new feature makes application maintenance easier, ensuring that the latest improvements are always available.

Norma Brasileira ABNT NBR 6118 (2014). Projeto de estruturas de concreto – Procedimento.

Implemented in CYPECADCYPE 3D (Metal 3D), Punching shear verification, Stairs, Flat slabs, Corbels, Great depth beams, Foundation elements and Continuous beams.

The tool, Strut3D, was implemented in the 2013.e version, and allows users to check (in CYPECAD and Metal 3D – using the Pile Caps module) pile caps using a general analysis method that analyses the D regions of the reinforced concrete using a strut and tie model. This tool was only available for use with the EHE-08 (Spain) code. Now, with the 2014.b version, the tool has been implemented for use with the following concrete codes:

  • ACI 318M08 (USA)
Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete.
  • Nch430.Of2008 (Chile)
    Norma Chilena oficial NCh430.Of2008.
  • NTE E.060: 2009 (Perú)
Reglamento Nacional de Edificaciones. Norma E.060 Concreto Armado (2009).
  • NSR10 (Colombia)
Reglamento Colombiano de Construcción Sismo Resistente NSR-10. Título C - Concreto estructural.

Reglamento Colombiano de Construcción Sismo Resistente NSR-10. Título C ‑ Concreto estructural.

Implemented in CYPECADMetal 3DStairsFoundation elements, and Continuous beams.

CYPECAD's advanced column and beam editors are also available with this code.

A new tool: Strut3D, has been incorporated in the 2013.e version of CYPECADMetal 3D and Foundation elements. Strut 3D checks foundation pile caps using a general calculation method in which the D regions of the reinforcement are analysed using a strut and tie model, in order to guarantee the structural requirements are met in accordance with the standards. The strut and tie model used has been previously validated by a linear finite element analysis.

Additionally, Strut3D provides a graphical output of the results, allowing users to consult them on screen and in the detailed verification reports, which indicate whether or not they comply with the standards. The information provided is of great importance, as it is this information which will be used by the project designer when deciding on and justifying the design.

Strut3D is the result of a development project developed by CYPE with the collaboration of the 'Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología del Hormigón' (ICITECH) of the 'Universidad Politécnica de Valencia' (UPV), financed by the 'Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial (CDTI) and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Therefore, Strut3D is a breakthrough compared to other products currently in the market, because it verifies and justifies compliance with the design standards based on an optimised strut and tie model in a simple and intuitive manner for its users.

To access Strut3D in CYPECAD or Metal 3D, users must have a license providing access to version 2013.e or higher in either of these programs, and their Pile caps module. To access Strut3D in the Foundation elements program, users only require the program with version 2013.e or greater.

The first version of Strut3D currently only considers the Spanish EHE-08 concrete design code. More concrete design codes will be implemented in upcoming program updates.

More information on this CYPE program tool will be available shortly.
