Open BIM Model Checker

Visualisation improvements

To help users with the inspection process of the geometric model, the program provides three visualisation options:

  • View by floors
  • View by discipline
  • View by elements

More information can be found in the “Visualisation” section of the Open BIM Model Checker webpage.

New features in Open BIM Model Checker

The 2020.c version of “Open BIM Model Checker” includes new features that notably increase its potential. New features have been included in the visualisation of the project, incident management, automatic detection of collisions, and access to and visualisation of the project documents.

Information on the program can be found on the Open BIM Model Checker webpage (including the new features of the program). The new features of this version are summarised in the following sections.

Incident status

In the 2020.b version of "Open BIM Model Checker", the status of the incidents has also been implemented (reference "3" in the image). Program users can mark each incident as “Solved" or "Open". This way, the incidents that have been introduced can be controlled more effectively.

Selection of elements with incidents to communicate to the owner

Several elements can be assigned to the same incident, but not all of them may have to be modified. Therefore, not all the owners of these elements have to receive notifications of the incident. The "Review" column has been included in the table of elements of an incident (in addition to the "Owner" column indicated in the previous section), so users can activate the elements together with their respective owners to whom the incident must be addressed (reference "2" in the image).

Automatic recognition of the owners of elements with incidents

When an element is assigned to an incident, "Open BIM Model Checker" automatically detects the owner of the element and indicates it in the table of elements of the incident ("Owner" column).

This way, "Open BIM Model Checker" users will be able to know whom to contact in case the affected element is to be modified (reference "1" in the image).

Open BIM Model Checker (new program)

"Open BIM Model Checker" is a free application designed to analyse and inspect BIM models. The objective of this program is to facilitate the prompt and rapid detection of incidents in models.

The program is integrated in the Open BIM workflow, and so, models of a project located on the BIMserver.center platform can be imported and be part of the collaborative, multidisciplinary and multi-user workflow provided by Open BIM technology.

Any incidents that are generated with the program can be viewed by users in the warnings tab of the "BIMserver.center" platform, providing access to all incident information and requirements from any device and at any time.

Each incident is also displayed in the specialist program that generated the object to which that incident is assigned.

"Open BIM Model Checker" can be downloaded from the BIMserver.center platform and installed in Catalan, English, French, Italian, Portuguese, Portuguese from Brazil or Spanish.

64-bit Version

As of the 2019.f version, CYPE programs (those downloaded from our website and those downloaded from the BIMserver.center platform) are compiled for 64-bit systems. The 64-bit compilation of CYPE software implies the use of the superior features of 64-bit processors and operating systems compared to those of 32 bits.

Please bear in mind that you must have a 64-bit operating system to be able to work with any 64-bit software.

In any case and as a temporary measure, the 2019.f version is available in 64 and 32 bits on the download area of our webpage. The programs that can be downloaded from the BIMserver.center platform are only available in 64 bits. If you have a 64-bit operating system, you can work with either the 64-bit and 32-bit version of our software, although we strongly recommend that you install the 64-bit CYPE software version.

You can see which operating system is installed on your computer by clicking on "Control panel > System".

Since 64-bit microprocessors began to be massively introduced into personal computers from 2003 and from the Windows XP version, Microsoft already offers the two versions of its operating systems (32 and 64 bits). We understand that almost all our users will have computers with 64-bit processors (x64) and 64-bit operating systems.

It could occur that a user may wish to work with a computer with a 64-bit processor but with a 32-bit operating system. It would be very strange if the computer had a 32-bit processor (x86 - computers over 15 years old). If any of these is your case, we advise you to talk to your hardware or software provider to update your situation as soon as possible. However, you can download the 32-bit version and work with CYPE programs that can be downloaded from our website until your situation is up-to-date.
