Introduction
Arquimedes is a program for creating bills of quantities and construction bids, which allows you to reuse information from other projects or cost databases, easily adjusting the data according to your needs. It also allows you to import data from spreadsheets (such as ExcelĀ®).
The program offers detailed treatment of the bill of quantity structure, with simple or broken-down prices and different measurement systems: direct and detailed, based on CAD or digitised files, or from BIM/CAD programs such as AllplanĀ®, ArchicadĀ® or RevitĀ®.
It also has a multitude of customisable reports. Furthermore, Arquimedes allows for planning and complete control of the project, with cost forecasts, resource schedules, certificate records, purchasing management, financial monitoring, etc.
Work environment
Arquimedes has an interface that varies depending on the database created (bill of quantities or cost database) and what you want to do. The interface is divided into two main parts:
- A top menu and toolbar.
This contains a multitude of functions for managing the budget or price database, configuring its parameters and viewing the different windows. The menu bar always displays the following sections: "File", "Databases", "Processes", "Display", "Window" and "Help". Depending on the window that is active, it will display another additional menu called "Tree", "Hierarchy", "Report" or "Certificates". The "Job Control" menu only appears if the corresponding module is available (see the section "Licences and related modules"). - A work environment that occupies most of the screen.
You can view the different windows of the bill of quantities or cost database, which are organised into tabs below the toolbar. In the order in which their icons appear in the central area of the toolbar and within the "Show" menu, they appear as follows:- Breakdown tree
This is the default window when opening or creating a bill of quantities or cost database. It is subdivided into two parts:- The upper area shows a tree structure organised into chapters, subchapters, sections and items, with a series of user-configurable columns to display the data.
- And the lower area, which changes depending on which column in the upper area we are in; and from which it is possible to create a measurement table with breakdowns and comments.
- Work section hierarchy
This window is used to view the information in the database in a structured manner and at a glance. The information is subdivided into five boxes, two upper ones labelled "Work sections" and "Prices", two lower ones labelled "References" and "Breakdown", separated by a central one containing the description of the concept. - List of items
This window provides selective information for analysing and optimising the bill of quantities. Initially, it does not display any data. You must filter one of the following from the "List" menu: "Work sections", "Breakdown", "Unit prices", "Parametric", "Concept selection" and "Other concepts". - Quantities/Certificates
This window is mainly used to keep track of construction certificates. It cannot be activated for a cost database, only for estimates.

Cost databases and bills of quantities
Arquimedes offers tools for creating and managing databases, both for cost databases and bills of quantities. It allows the entry of work sections, sub-work sections and items, as well as the import of data in BC3 or CSV format.
You can take manual or automatic measurements from compatible DXF/DWG drawing or image files. It is also possible to adjust, update and consolidate prices from different estimates.
Furthermore, Arquimedes integrates with BIM/CAD programs such as AllplanĀ®, ArchicadĀ® and RevitĀ®, facilitating the connection between the digital model and the construction bill of quantities.

Job control and financial management
In the "Job control" menu, the program offers tools for managing the economic and financial monitoring of the construction project.
You can record certificates, supplier and customer invoices, analyse deviations in price and quantity from the target bill of quantities, and generate the cash flow with payment and collection due dates.
In addition, it is possible to plan and control resources and execution deadlines, as well as manage purchases through requests for quotations, comparisons, and contracts, or make allocations to cost centres for more detailed control.

Printing documents and exporting data
Arquimedes offers the generation of reports and technical documents associated with the bill of quantities and the job.
The program includes customisable report templates and also allows you to print the contents of the "Breakdown tree" or "Concept list" windows.

Licenses and related modules
CYPE programs are activated via electronic licenses which may contain one or more modules. The list of modules compatible with each program may vary depending on the product purchased and the type of license.
To consult the list of modules compatible with this program, go to "CYPE program modules".
Please note that the list of modules available in the license will depend on the product purchased.
