CYPETHERM BRIDGES

Installation modes (professional, campus, evaluation, temporary license)

All CYPE programs can be installed in their different versions (Professional Version, Evaluation Version, Campus Version, Temporary License). In previous versions, users could only choose the type of version to be installed from the classic CYPE menu.

As of version 2024.a, the selection of version types has been implemented in all CYPE programs on the BIMserver.center platform.

As of version 2024.d, this selection can be made during the installation of all CYPE programs, regardless of where they are downloaded.

Connection with the BIMserver.center platform

As of version 2024.b, the CYPETHERM HYGRO and CYPETHERM BRIDGES applications can access the collaborative work platform BIMserver.center. A link can now be established with a BIMserver.center project and the "Report" generated by each application can be shared. For this purpose, the "BIMserver.center" group of options with the "Update" and "Share" buttons has been added to the toolbar of CYPETHERM HYGRO and CYPETHERM BRIDGES.

Available at BIMserver.center

As of version 2024.b, the CYPETHERM HYGRO and CYPETHERM BRIDGES applications are now available for download from the BIMserver.center platform. In previous versions, they were only available in the classic menu of CYPE programs.

Long access paths

In previous versions, file paths used by applications were limited to a maximum length of 256 characters. This restriction is not specific to CYPE tools but is set by default in the Windows file system. As of version 2024.b, CYPE applications can bypass the restriction and allow the use of an extended path length for a maximum total path length of 10,000 characters. This eliminates the problems caused by the default limit and allows users to work with long access paths.

This improvement is particularly useful when working on projects with a complex directory structure or with long file names. By allowing longer paths, CYPE applications offer greater flexibility in file organisation.

64-bit Version

As of the 2019.f version, CYPE programs (those downloaded from our website and those downloaded from the BIMserver.center platform) are compiled for 64-bit systems. The 64-bit compilation of CYPE software implies the use of the superior features of 64-bit processors and operating systems compared to those of 32 bits.

Please bear in mind that you must have a 64-bit operating system to be able to work with any 64-bit software.

In any case and as a temporary measure, the 2019.f version is available in 64 and 32 bits on the download area of our webpage. The programs that can be downloaded from the BIMserver.center platform are only available in 64 bits. If you have a 64-bit operating system, you can work with either the 64-bit and 32-bit version of our software, although we strongly recommend that you install the 64-bit CYPE software version.

You can see which operating system is installed on your computer by clicking on "Control panel > System".

Since 64-bit microprocessors began to be massively introduced into personal computers from 2003 and from the Windows XP version, Microsoft already offers the two versions of its operating systems (32 and 64 bits). We understand that almost all our users will have computers with 64-bit processors (x64) and 64-bit operating systems.

It could occur that a user may wish to work with a computer with a 64-bit processor but with a 32-bit operating system. It would be very strange if the computer had a 32-bit processor (x86 - computers over 15 years old). If any of these is your case, we advise you to talk to your hardware or software provider to update your situation as soon as possible. However, you can download the 32-bit version and work with CYPE programs that can be downloaded from our website until your situation is up-to-date.

New materials libraries

New material libraries have been added. A library with materials of the EN ISO 10456 code and another with the materials of the LIDER library have been added to the existing “Matériaux décrits dans la norme RT 2005”.

New types of thermal bridges

As of the 2015.e version, CYPETHERM ISO 10211 analyses two new linear thermal bridges:

  • Intersection between the façade and flat roof
  • Intersection between the façade and floor slab overhang

CYPETHERM ISO 10211 (new program)

CYPETHERM ISO 10211 is an application conceived to determine the thermal transmittance of linear thermal bridges by solving and processing a finite element heat transfer analysis model, based on the UNE-EN ISO 10211 code. This application is located in the Building services group of the main CYPE program menu.

This program is part of an investigation to develop a software tool to integrate the numerical analysis of thermal bridges in the energy demand calculation of buildings, which is financed by the “Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial (CDTI)”, co-financed by the “European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)” and carried out in collaboration with the “Grupo de Ingeniería Energética” of the “Departamento de Sistemas Industriales” of Miguel Hernandez University in Elche (Alicante).

The main features of CYPETHERM ISO 10211 include:

  • Analysis in accordance with EN ISO 10211
  • Different thermal bridge models
  • Libraries or material catalogues
  • Analysis results

For users to be able to work with CYPETHERM ISO 10211, their user licence must include the “Numerical analysis of linear thermal bridges” permit.

More information can be found on the CYPETHERM ISO 10211 webpage.
