AcouBAT by CYPE

Code implementation: CTE DB HR (Spain)

As of the 2020.a version, AcouBAT by CYPE allows users to import the configuration of the acoustic limits contained in the document “DB HR Protección frente al ruido” of the “Código Técnico de la Edificación” of Spain. To automatically provide the acoustic requirements with the values of the standard, users must indicate the "Use of the building", the "Type of predominant outside noise" and the "Day noise index (Ld)".

New magnitudes to evaluate indoor and outdoor sound

As of the 2019.g version, AcoubatBIM by CYPE broadens the available acoustic indices to evaluate indoor and outdoor airborne sound. The new indices are:

Magnitudes for outdoor airborne sound insulation

  • Global apparent sound reduction index (R’w)
  • Global, A-weighted, apparent sound reduction index A (R’A)
  • Global, A-weighted, apparent sound reduction index for dominant automobile or aircraft outdoor noise (R’Atr)

Magnitudes for indoor airborne sound insulation

  • Global, A-weighted, apparent sound reduction index (R’A)
  • Global, A-weighted, apparent sound reduction index for dominant automobile or aircraft outdoor noise (R’Atr)

All the sound indices that are available in the program can be consulted in the General data section of the “AcoubatBIM by CYPE” webpage.

64-bit Version

As of the 2019.f version, CYPE programs (those downloaded from our website and those downloaded from the BIMserver.center platform) are compiled for 64-bit systems. The 64-bit compilation of CYPE software implies the use of the superior features of 64-bit processors and operating systems compared to those of 32 bits.

Please bear in mind that you must have a 64-bit operating system to be able to work with any 64-bit software.

In any case and as a temporary measure, the 2019.f version is available in 64 and 32 bits on the download area of our webpage. The programs that can be downloaded from the BIMserver.center platform are only available in 64 bits. If you have a 64-bit operating system, you can work with either the 64-bit and 32-bit version of our software, although we strongly recommend that you install the 64-bit CYPE software version.

You can see which operating system is installed on your computer by clicking on "Control panel > System".

Since 64-bit microprocessors began to be massively introduced into personal computers from 2003 and from the Windows XP version, Microsoft already offers the two versions of its operating systems (32 and 64 bits). We understand that almost all our users will have computers with 64-bit processors (x64) and 64-bit operating systems.

It could occur that a user may wish to work with a computer with a 64-bit processor but with a 32-bit operating system. It would be very strange if the computer had a 32-bit processor (x86 - computers over 15 years old). If any of these is your case, we advise you to talk to your hardware or software provider to update your situation as soon as possible. However, you can download the 32-bit version and work with CYPE programs that can be downloaded from our website until your situation is up-to-date.

Export documents to the BIM model

The option to “Export to IFC” has been implemented in the “BIM model” group of the toolbar. This option integrates the reports in the BIM model. These report, in .pdf format, are those corresponding to the “Results report”, “Material properties” and “Materials schedule”. These documents can be viewed directly using the BIMserver.center platform and its mobile applications (Android and iOS).

Equipment noise analysis along corridors

As of the 2019.a version, AcoubatBIM by CYPE takes into account the indirect airborne transmissions along corridors to evaluate the sound pressure level produced by the equipment of the building. Thanks to this improvement, it is now possible to analyse equipment noise between non-adjacent spaces.

Aerators in the windows and skylights library

As of the 2019.a version, AcoubatBIM by CYPE allows users to introduce aerators directly in the types of windows and skylights defined in the library of the application. This way users do not have to include each aerator independently in the model when it is installed together with the glazed opening.

Reading of electrogen groups of the “Open BIM Inmesol” application as sound sources

As of the 2019.a version, all CYPESOUND programs (CYPESOUND, CYPESOUND CTE, CYPESOUND NRA, CYPESOUND RRAE and CYPESOUND DRAPDE) and AcoubatBIM by CYPE are able to read electrogen groups from the BIM model and add them to the program as noise sources. During the import process, the application automatically calculates the values of parameters "r" (distance between the source and the closest enclosure of each affected area) and "D" (directivity factor of the machine) corresponding to each set, based on the position of the source and the geometry of the building.

These devices can be introduced in the BIM model using the new application: “Open BIM Inmesol”, which is available on the BIMserver.center platform.

Export project documents to the BIM model

The option to “Export” to IFC has been implemented in the “BIM model” group of the toolbar in all CYPESOUND programs (CYPESOUND, CYPESOUND CTE, CYPESOUND RRAE and CYPESOUND DRAPDE) and in AcoubatBIM by CYPE. This option allows users to integrate the justification reports of the project in the BIM project, in .pdf format. These reports can be viewed directly using the BIMserver.center platform and its mobile applications for Android and iOS.

Values required in the design summary

As of the 2018.k version, in the design summary that is generated in AcoubatBIM by CYPE, the third table includes a new column that contains the levels that are required of each acoustic parameter. This way, the results shown in the histogram are provided in more detail.

Adjacent spaces in thermal and acoustic programs

When CYPE thermal and acoustic programs import an IFC file that does not contain information on adjacent spaces, they analyse the file and the layout of the spaces to detect what type of spaces are adjacent to them.

As of previous versions, these adjacent spaces were included automatically in the IFC files that are generated by IFC Builder (free CYPE application designed for the creation and maintenance of IFC building models), as this program generates them. Other CAD/BIM programs (such as Allplan®, Archicad®, Revit®...) do not export this information to IFC files, hence, if one of these programs was being used as the initial tool of the BIM model, the boundaries had to be defined by users in each specialised acoustic and thermal application.

With this important new feature of the 2018.j version, information on adjacent spaces is included in CYPE thermal and acoustic programs, regardless of which CAD/BIM program is used as the geometric modeller of the Open BIM project.

Below is a list displaying the thermal and acoustic programs CYPE has available that benefit from this new feature:

Installation in Spanish, Portuguese and Italian

In previous versions, AcoubatBIM by CYPE could only be installed in English and French. As of the 2018.j version, AcoubatBIM by CYPE can also be installed in Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.
