CYPELEC Electrical Mechanisms

New 3D work environment

CYPELEC Electrical Mechanisms changes from a 2D environment to a new 3D work environment, achieving greater capacity in the architectural modelling of terminal elements in electrical and telecommunications installations.

The new 3D work environment provides:

  • Greater geometric precision when positioning ceiling lighting points, wall lighting points, emergency lighting and electrical mechanisms: switches, multiway switches, sockets, audiovisual connectors and telephone connectors.
  • Improvement in the connection of lighting circuits and points of use between switches and lighting points, including those in stairwells between floors.
  • Improvement in the representation of electrical zones in rooms containing a bath or shower.
  • Improvement in the requirements for placing sockets in proximity to electrical appliances.

Multiple socket base in the services required by equipment imported from the BIM model

The possibility of selecting a multiple socket base to power the equipment imported from the BIM model has been added.

Generating and assigning electrical outlets for equipment imported from the BIM model

A new feature is added to the program that allows users to both manually and automatically assign outlets to the equipment imported from the BIM model.

When reading a BIM project, CYPELEC Electrical Mechanisms allows electrical equipment included in the architectural model to be imported, such as: televisions, cookers, washing machines, dishwashers, extractor fans, refrigerators, microwaves and computers.

The program will notify users when the required service needs to be provided for this equipment. This service can be carried out by means of a manual or automatic assignment of the previously introduced required outlet, or by means of an automatic generation of outlets, according to the criteria for the selection of outlets per appliance.

  • Manual assignment with previously introduced outlets
In order to carry out this manual assignment, users must click on the “Assign” button in the “Assign outlets” group in the toolbar and in this order. First, the equipment is chosen, and then the outlet to be assigned.
  • Automatic assignment with previously introduced outlets
In order to carry out this automatic assignment, users must click on the "Generate" icon in the "Assign outlets" group in the toolbar. The program will select the one that is best suited for service and proximity from those available.
  • Automatic generation of outlets per equipment
In order to carry out this automatic generation, users must click on the “Generate outlets” icon in the “Elements” group in the toolbar. The program will introduce the outlets required depending on the service required for each device.  The criteria for their introduction depends on the selection made in the "Processing of the equipment of the BIM model" section of the general options.

2D drawings in vector graphics format

When elaborating electrical drawings, an option has been added that allows users to create drawings of the 2D views in vector graphics format. These drawings can be generated in DXF and DWG file formats.

Automatic orientation when introducing mechanisms

When a mechanism is inserted on a vertical plane, the program snaps the plane of the element on which it is to be positioned and the mechanism is automatically oriented.

General improvements

Version 2021.g of CYPE’s programs is a closing version of the 2021 version.

As well as the new features and improvements expressly indicated in each version of CYPE software, process optimisation involving internal updates for all our programs is normally included. In each revision, all programs are systematically checked and changes are made to improve their performance, therefore, we recommend that our users (in this case those of v.2021) always update their version to the latest one, regardless of the country for which they are using CYPE software or the language in which it is installed.

Shortcuts to other applications

Similarly to the 2021.c version of CYPE Architecture, in this version (2021.e) shortcuts have been implemented in the programs CYPELEC Electrical Mechanisms, CYPELEC Distribution and CYPELEC CORE, allowing other applications to be opened in order to continue with the development of the project.

Selecting these shortcuts first exports the results obtained in the user’s current program to the BIM project and then opens the selected application, which makes it quicker to continue with the development of the project.

In this way, the user will have guided assistance which will allow them to move from program to program to complete the electrical installation. A design can be carried out starting from the architectural model right through to the analysis of the low, medium and high voltage installation without having to search for the application that continues with the development of the project.

Emergency lighting

Users can now enter emergency lighting, thereby increasing the number of elements that can be entered into the program.

The lights are entered in a similar way as are light points and other electrical mechanisms.

Representation options

A new functionality to represent labels in elements has been added.

In general options, the Representation options icon incorporates three tabs:

  • References
Allows users to assign the default reference for the different elements.
  • Tag (new tool)
Allows, for each element, for users to make a customised selection of the properties that are to be represented on screen and later on the floor drawings.
  • Symbols
Allows users to edit custom symbols that can later be assigned to the different elements.

Element references with the Portuguese design code

When the Portuguese standard is selected in CYPELEC Electrical Mechanisms, the references that are used in Portugal for the different elements that are entered are loaded automatically.

Export the bill of quantities to the BIM project

The documents that are exported to the BIM project are complemented with the bill of quantities and the file in FIEBDC-3 format (.bc3) of the electrical installation.

Default reference panel for elements

The "References" option has been included in "General settings". This option opens a panel that includes the references of the elements that are entered in the program with omitted values, which can be modified by users.
