Native data and data shared with BIMserver.center
CYPE programs do not export all the information from the working files to BIMserver.center, but only the information strictly necessary to ensure that results can be viewed on this platform and to facilitate the workflow between different programs. Therefore, one should not confuse the native data from the CYPE program stored on the user’s hard drive with the data shared or exported to BIMserver.center:
- Native data consists of a file or file system on the program user’s hard drive, which can be accessed via “File > Save As”. Each program has a specific native file or file structure with a different extension (for example, in the case of CYPE Architecture, the .str file). These are the files that a user can send to another user if they wish the recipient to have full control and editing rights over the original content. We also recommend using this procedure to compress and share the native data in .cyp format, whilst the second user can decompress the project received using this method.
- The information shared or exported to BIMserver.center is merely a snapshot of the work carried out in the program at the time of export. The program generates an .ifc file that acts as the header for a group of export files, all of which are deliverables (and cannot be edited). These include .gltf files, which enable 3D visualisation on BIMserver.center and in other programs linked to the workflow, as well as other output files such as reports and/or drawings.
This distinction aims to ensure that specific knowledge or know-how remains confined to files stored on the local drive and under the control of the program operator.
